Rice Northwest Museum announces appointment of new curator
January 2012 will find Lara O'Dwyer-Brown in charge of the collections at the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals in Hillsboro, Oregon. Lara has collected rocks and minerals since she was young and has a passion for specimens. At the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco she worked with Dr. Peter Roopnarine (curator) and Dr. Jean DeMouthe (collection manager) towards borrowing minerals, rocks, ores and fossils for display at UC Davis. Lara has visited the Rice Museum, toured its galleries, and (in her words) "is excited about working with the museum's phenomenal specimens to develop integrated education and outreach programs that will heighten the museum's role in the local community."
